Connect to a Wireless Network

1. Download the Electric Objects app

To get started, visit the App Store or Google Play and download the Electric Objects app.  Navigate to your profile and then to your settings.  Select Add a New Display and begin the Setup Wizard to pass your WiFi network name and password onto your device.

2. Enable Bluetooth on your phone

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled in your phone’s settings, and stand within a five feet of radius of your device.

For iOS devices, you must have an iPhone 4s or higher, running iOS 7.0 or above. You can also set up your display with all iPad models except for the 1st and 2nd generation iPad.

For Android devices, you will need a Bluetooth LE enabled phone or tablet, running Android 4.3 or above.

3. Turn on your device

Make sure the power cord is connected securely in the back of the display, and that it’s plugged into the wall. You might need to press your display's power button.

The EO only looks for Bluetooth signals within 60 minutes of being powered on, so if this is not your initial setup, you may need to reboot your display to continue.

4. Connect to a WiFi network

EO2 can connect to both 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks, so choose the network you feel is most reliable.

EO2 cannot connect to networks that require secondary browser-based authentication.  It will only work on public networks or networks with WEP, WPA, or WPA2 authentication. (Hint: If you need to enter an institutional username and password in order to connect to your organization’s WiFi, your network most likely requires secondary authentication, but please feel free to reach out if you’re unsure)

5. Triple check your network credentials

When prompted to enter your network name and password, be careful. Network names are case sensitive and can include special characters (including spaces!). Triple check to make sure you have typed them in correctly.

Additionally, here are two videos showing this process for iPhone or Android.
